Tech Tips: Industry standard for measuring axles is Hub Face to Hub Face. Proper axle placement will ensure a trailer is neither tongue heavy, nor rear heavy. Trailer weight will be properly placed on the axle of the trailer instead of the tow vehicle. Starting from the front of the trailer cargo area, the centre of the axle should be at 60% of the cargo decks length not including the trailer tongue. For tandem axles this should be the centre of the two axles.
